About the Opportunity
The postdoctoral research fellow (postdoc) will work closely with the PI on a research project. Postdoc responsibilities may include project management; mentoring PhD students; theoretical development for reasoning about privacy and narrative question-answering; experimental design for evaluation of software tools; software system design and implementation; and communication and dissemination of research results via written papers and oral presentations. The postdoc will also be responsible for applying for continued funding should they wish to extend the position.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in computer science or a related field
Ability to break down research problems and refine hypotheses
Strong technical writing and oral communication
Prior knowledge of or ability to learn the Answer Set Programming (ASP) logic programming paradigm
Key Responsibilities
Project Management: Working closely with the PI, help refine hypotheses and set clear directions for implementation. Break down problems into actionable steps, create milestones and accountability systems, and check in regularly on progress with the research team.
Research Mentorship: Provide secondary mentorship for Ph.D. student on the project by meeting regularly with said student, working side by side when necessary.
Experiment Design: Review existing experimental data and work with team to develop a follow-up data collection and analysis plan to answer research questions. Oversee conducting of follow-up data collection procedures. Consolidate and present results.
Theoretical Development: Work closely with the research team to refine the theoretical model of user privacy and narrative to meet the project’s goals. Write up mathematical definitions and determine relevant properties, theorems, or correspondences that follow from these definitions.
Dissemination: Contribute as a lead author on at least 1 research paper for submission to a top-tier conference or journal relevant to the work. Give internal presentations as needed, and present the work at external venues where appropriate. Distribute the work online via paper links, code repositories, websites, and/or videos.
