Summary
The Hematology and Oncology department is in search of a Postdoctoral Associate to support research and academic endeavors for the Kaochar Lab. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled scientist to oncogenic signaling pathways in prostate cancer. The preferred candidate will be expected to have strong conceptual and experimental background in biochemistry as well as molecular biology, specifically in mammalian cells. Prior experience in the structure biology will be highly beneficial. Candidates must have at least one first-author publication (or article in press) in a high-impact journal and must demonstrate potential and commitment to become self-funded investigators under proper guidance.
Salary will be according to NIH guidelines. Candidate will be expected to apply for extramural funding.

Job Duties
- Designs experimental plans, leads study execution, analyzes experimental data, generates laboratory protocols, and prepares manuscripts with minimum supervision from senior team leads.
- Troubleshoots and solves difficult problems in the design/execution and development of projects.
- Performs cell/tissue culture and determine/quantify cell viability.
- Isolates, purifies and analyzes RNA, DNA and protein including hybridization, gel electrophoresis, ECL imaging, PCR reactions, quantitative RT-PCR assays, etc.
- Performs molecular cloning, transformation, site-specific mutagenesis and transfection of plasmids.
- Performs stable and transient knockdown of targets of interest via siRNA/shRNA, CRISPR, lentiviral constructs, etc.
- Maintains accurate, detailed records of experimental data and protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in protein expression in insect cells, structure-based drug design, and/or biophysics will be an advantage.
- The candidate must be highly motivated to participate in rigorous and innovative research programs, and possess excellent work ethic and team spirit: be able to work independently and efficiently and collaborate closely with members of the group and other labs on joint projects.
- Proficiency in English.
