澳大利亚加尔万医学研究所博士后职位招聘–分子RNA生物学方向
We are currently seeking a talented and driven Research Officer to join the Neurotranscriptomics RNA Laboratory of Associate Professor Robert Weatheritt in Sydney, Australia
The Postdoctoral Fellow will develop a project aimed at using functional genomics and/or high-content imaging to investigate the function of alternative splicing on cellular phenotypes. The project will focus on either understanding the role of membraneless organelles during viral infection or the development of isoform-specific therapeutics but can be amended to candidates interests.
The position will involve the use of CRISPR-Cas9 technology, APEX-sequencing, next-generation sequencing (including single-cell RNA-seq), bioinformatic tools and a variety of molecular and cell biology approaches. The ideal candidate will have experience in CRISPR technology and/or single molecule imaging approaches. The fully funded role will be full-time for 1/2 years in the first instance.
The key responsibilities include:
• Designing experiments. Collating and interpreting results
• Producing rigorous empirical results, generating publication-quality images and text, and leading the development of peer-reviewed publications for high quality journals.
• Performing CRISPR experiments to evaluate the impact of genomic and transcriptomic changes
• Presenting research methods and results at national and international conferences
• Producing and submitting fellowship and other funding applications
About You
You will have the following key skills and experience:
• PhD in a related field
• Experience or interest in studying fundamental aspects of RNA biology
• Molecular biology skills, e.g. PCR, cloning, mutagenesis
• Experience in single molecule imaging approaches and/or CRISPR technologies
• Proficient in computational biology and have previous experience analysing genomics data.
• Ability to rapidly learn new skills.
• Experience in drafting and finalising scientific manuscripts.
• First-author publication(s) in high impact journals
• Experience supervising students and/or junior staff.
Garvan Institute
The Garvan Institute of Medical Research brings together world leading researchers and clinicians, collaborating locally and globally, to improve human health. Our mission is to harness all the information encoded in our genome to better diagnose, treat, predict and prevent disease. From the individual patient with rare disease, to the many thousands affected by complex, widespread illness, we are pioneering discoveries across diseases that have the deepest impact on our community.
Through our key scientific strengths in cancer, immunology and genomic science, we aim to catalyse research from fundamental discovery to transformational impact. Enabled by cutting-edge technology and world-class facilities, and the support of our passionate Garvan family; our researchers and professional staff strive, every day, to create a future where everyone lives longer, healthier lives.
The Neurotranscriptomics Laboratory at the Garvan Institute aims combines RNA biology with computational and molecular biology techniques to elucidate mechanisms underlying disease. The Neurotranscriptomics lab is a highly multidisciplinary team of bioinformaticians, molecular biologists, genomics and imaging experts.
Come work with us to do cutting-edge biomedical research in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
