美国佐治亚大学博士后职位招聘–医学方向
Postdoctoral Position
The Center for Tropical and Emerging Global Diseases (CTEGD) at the University of Georgia, one of the largest international centers for research of eukaryotic pathogens, is recruiting postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Rosenberg.
Studying how viruses and bacteria dysregulate the immune system has provided us with important insight into how the immune system works, and in turn, this knowledge may allow us to manipulate the innate immune response for the development of therapies. However, viruses and bacteria are only two classes of microbes that can cause disease, and surprisingly little is known about how eukaryotic pathogens manipulate their hosts. The Rosenberg lab utilizes Toxoplasma gondii as a model organism to study the sophisticated mechanisms this pervasive human eukaryotic pathogen uses to modulate the host immune system.
Projects in the lab will involve multidisciplinary approaches, including genome-wide genetic screens, proteomics, cell biology, microscopy, and biochemistry, to uncover novel T. gondii secreted effectors and understand their mechanism of action.
Qualifications:
- Recent PhD or MD degrees
- Applicants need to be self- motivated, fast learners, critical thinkers, and enthusiastic about science and medicine.
- Team oriented, collaborative, good personal relationships.
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Highly proficient in a variety of molecular and cellular biology techniques.
- Performing basic molecular biology techniques, including cloning, nucleic acid isolation, PCR, and protein expression analysis.
- Good English writing and communication skills.
Postdoctoral appointees at UGA receive a starting salary based on the NIH NRSA guidelines and a generous benefit package. Complete information on the benefit package is located on the UGA Human Resources Benefits website https://hr.uga.edu/Current_Employees/Benefits/benefits/. Postdocs are also supported through a dedicated Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (https://postdocs.uga.edu/) and the department of International Student Life (https://isl.uga.edu/)
UGA ranks among the top 100 public and private research universities for federal research and development expenditures, and is consistently rated among the top college towns for quality of life. Athens’ cosmopolitan populace and varied cultural and recreational opportunities, combined with southern hospitality and small-town convenience, makes it a desirable place to live and work.
