The Operations and Supply Chain Management Group is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to work on an EPSRC-funded project UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub (UK-MarRe Hub). The UK-MarRe Hub, consisting of 13 universities in the UK and many industrial and civic organisations, aims to accelerate the decarbonisation and elimination of air pollution from maritime activity in ports and at sea.
You will be tasked with gathering relevant data (both quantitative and qualitative) from secondary sources and industrial partners, conducting AI-based data analytics, developing data-driven optimisation models for operational efficiency and emission reduction in maritime operations, interpreting the results, and preparing high quality academic articles and practitioner reports based on the results obtained. Candidates with necessary skillsets to complete these tasks are invited to submit their applications.
You will possess a relevant PhD, or be close to completion of a PhD, and will demonstrate
(i) ability to carry out research independently and collaboratively;
(ii) ability to work with industrial partners;
(iii) the potential to publish in top academic journals.
You will also need to undertake administrative duties to support the project. The appointment will be made on the basis of the University’s standard terms and conditions. The successful applicant will be based at the University of Liverpool. The post is fixed for 24 months.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.
