Postdoctoral Associate
Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Aging, Molecular Biology or a closely related field in hand by the start of the appointment. Ability to conduct research independently. Rich working knowledge of typical tests or procedures [or techniques] relative to the field of Molecular Biology and Developmental Biology. Formal training in bench work and molecular biology or developmental biology is required. Incumbents should have familiarity with the standards used in research and knowledge, experience in handling multiple variables or tasks, and be interested in managing experimental animals (killifish).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience performing molecular biology and developmental biology research using DNA extractions and purification, PCR, cloning and in situ hybridization, and genome editing (CRISPR & transgenesis). Experience with killifish research procedures.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist Dr. Chi-Kuo Hu , Principal Investigator in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology .
The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, and exercise strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently, as well as, working as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Duties:
● Conduct research experiments in the fields of Molecular Biology, Developmental Biology, and Aging.
● Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related fields to analyze the collected data.
● Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.
● Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
● Other duties as assigned may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
