The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at University of Miami is currently accepting applications for a postdoctoral research position. We are seeking a motivated individual to spearhead research on the fundamental understanding of novel secondary battery chemistries, exploring materials and mechanisms associated with electrochemical energy storage systems. The successful candidate will also be engaged in modeling battery performance, degradation, and other critical behaviors.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Conduct in-depth research on novel secondary battery chemistries
Investigate materials and mechanisms in electrochemical energy storage systems
Model battery performance, degradation, and other relevant behaviors
Publish research findings in reputable journals
Collaborate with a diverse team of researchers and students
Prepare and deliver presentations and reports on research findings
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
Certification and Licensing:
Not Applicable
Experience:
- Strong publication record showcasing originality and technical depth
- Ability to conduct independent and collaborative research in energy storage materials and devices
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in preparing presentations and reports
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
- Extensive background in electrochemistry and fluid dynamics.
- Experience in electrochemical tests of battery materials
- Experience in modeling by MATLAB or COMSOL Multiphysics
