Duties/responsibilities
You will
- Identify suitable methodologies for the collection and analysis of data
- Ensuring the validity/reliability of data
- Use molecular biology, bacteriological, biochemical, regulatory and cellular biology approaches
- Present findings to collaborators/colleagues/conferences
- Take initiative in the planning of research
- Project management and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Maintain highly organised/accurate records
- Undertake appropriate scientific and professional training
- Promote an energetic and positive environment
- Submit publications to leading journals and to attract external research funding as well as contribute to teaching activities at Imperial College.
Essential requirements
- A PhD in microbiology, host-pathogen interactions or biochemistry, or a closely related area
- Evidence of performing research relevant area
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience of effective teamwork and/or supervision
- Published your research in relevant and refereed journal(s)
- The ability to work on your own initiative
- Knowledge of research methods and statistical procedures
- Ability to review recent literature and apply new concepts
- Organisational/time management/computer skills

Further Information
The post is full time and fixed-term contract for 24 months with renewal potential.
Candidates not yet awarded PhD will be appointed initially as Research Assistant (£40,694 – £43,888 per annum.)
