Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or 2 within UCD School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering
Reference no – 016719
Applications are invited for a Post-doctoral Research Fellow role in the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering. This post will spearhead the development of novel fluid-solid interaction algorithms for cardiovascular xenotransplantation applications. The focus will be on developing novel, higher-order, monolithic fluid-solid interaction finite volume methods based on the open-source OpenFOAM software and/or similar software. The developed codes, shared globally through the open-source solids4foam toolbox (www.solids4foam.com), will be used for cardiovascular analyses including the emerging area of cardiac xenotransplantation (pig-to-human heart transplant).
This exciting project is part of European Research Council project “XenoSim: Providing Computational Insights into Cardiac Xenotransplantation”, where the successful candidate will join a team of seven researchers working on the project.
This is an advanced research focused role, building on your prior experience as a post-doctoral fellow, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to develop new or advanced research skills and competences, on the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications and scholarly dissemination, the development of funding proposals, and the supervision and mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
