德国科隆大学博士后职位招聘–生物信息学,物理学,数学,计算机科学或相关领域
The Institute for Computational Cancer Biology at the University Hospital Cologne, University of Cologneinvites applications for one Computational PhD student or Postdoctoral Fellow in cancer genomics in the lab of Prof. Dr Roland Schwarz.
The Schwarz Lab is actively seeking a motivated PhD student or postdoctoral fellow with a background in bioinformatics or computer science and an interest in method development for cancer genomics.
About us
Our computational group is interested in understanding the role of chromosomal instability, somatic copy number alterations (SCNA) and chromatin structure in cancer evolution. We develop and apply algorithms for inferring and simulating cancer evolution and for haplotype reconstruction and phasing in close collaboration with our clinical and experimental partners. We are part of several national and international consortia, such as the ICGC-ARGO, TRACERx, and SATURN3 consortia. Part of our group is also based at the Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data (BIFOLD) at the TU Berlin. There will be ample opportunities for visits and exchanges between our partner sites.
About the project
You will be part of CLONETRAC, a collaborative international consortium with the aim of tracking the clonal dynamics of cancer through treatment at the single-cell level, funded by the Bruno and Helene Jöster Foundation. You will develop novel algorithms and tools for inferring and predicting the evolution of SCNAs, and apply these methods to state-of-the art single-cell sequencing data. You will be embedded in an interdisciplinary and collaborative team of bioinformaticians and clinicians between the University of Cologne, the Charité Berlin, and the UCL Cancer Institute London, on a project with strong translational potential.
About you
Ideal candidates will have a PhD and Masters degree in Bioinformatics, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field, but exceptional PhD candidates are also considered. A strong interest in quantitative and genetics research is expected, prior experience in method development for cancer genomics is a plus. Successful candidates will show a strong work ethic and should be enthusiastic about working in a highly interdisciplinary environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team are required.
