Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Chemistry
We invite applications to join SFI funded proposal team working on Non-aqueous Generation of Soluble Inorganic Phosphate (SINFERT) led by Dr Kirill Nikitin. The proposed research is a part of strategic theme Creating a Sustainable Global Society.
This project can answer one of the greatest challenges facing humankind: the inevitable depletion of phosphate mineral resources. The objective of this project is to design an entirely novel method for phosphate recycling and recovery based on new methodology which will radically impact phosphorus fertiliser market and closely related phosphorus chemicals markets. It is hoped that at the end of the final phase of this research, the major undertaking would be construction and operation of a pilot plant scale production facility, patenting and commercialisation strategy and a multi-million-euro European funded network to exploit the technology.
This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project:
• Carrying out chemical reactions using corrosion resistant apparatus
• Collecting, curating and analysing the data; prepare reports and documentation
• Taking an active part in Team’s training and collaborative activities
• Assisting the Team with stakeholders engagement and sustainability meetings
Salary range: €42,782 – €45,322 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
