英国MRC医学科学实验室博士后职位招聘–哺乳动物发育的基因调控和/或表观遗传学方面
Overall purpose
The Development and Transcriptional control group, led by Dr Vicki Metzis, focuses on understanding the molecular drivers of cell identity control during embryonic development. Our group takes a multidisciplinary approach to probe cell identity, to examine the gene regulatory logic that establishes diverse cell types in the head versus the trunk of the body. We are seeking to appoint a postdoctoral scientist to join our team to explore how key regulators of the body plan impact cell identity through the control of cis regulatory elements.
Job Summary
Foundational work from our group has updated textbook views on how the nervous system is regionalised during development (Simon & Hadjantonakis 2018 PMID: 30388450; Metzis et al., 2018; PMID: 30343898; Needham & Metzis 2022 PMID: 35257719). Building on these findings, we have provided further insights into the regulatory mechanisms that operate during the formation of posterior body derivatives (Blassberg et al., 2022 PMID: 35550614; Exelby et al., 2021 PMID: 33547135) and the generation of human spinal cord progenitors (Semprich et al., 2022 PMID: 36455041).
We are now seeking to appoint a postdoctoral scientist with an experimental background to investigate novel aspects of transcription factor function during nervous system development. This post would suit a creative individual who is eager to explore gene regulatory mechanisms operating during development using state-of-the-art proteomic and genome engineering technologies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in gene regulation and/or epigenetics in mammalian development. Both UK and EU/international candidates are very welcome to apply and a suitable visa will be applied for upon acceptance.
This is an MRC Postdoctoral Scientist position providing training and development supporting post-doctoral scientists in early or changed career paths helping establish them as successful research scientists in their chosen field.
