Postdoctoral Research Scholar, Quantum Networking
Description
Dr. Joseph M. Lukens of the Research Technology Office (RTO) and Quantum Collaborative at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Quantum Networking. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Lukens to design and implement innovative quantum communications experiments in a deployed quantum metro area network in the Tempe/Phoenix metro area.
Supported by the Quantum Collaborative, an Arizona-state funded initiative promoting collaboration throughout the quantum ecosystem and including an expanding list of industrial and academic partners (https://quantumcollaborative.org/), Dr. Lukens’ multisite laboratory is currently under construction and will feature a broad collection of photonics and fiber-optic capabilities (https://lukenslab.quantumcollaborative.org/).
Essential Duties:
The postdoctoral research associate will set up and test quantum optical equipment, design and run quantum networking experiments, and write papers describing results of the research. The postdoc will also mentor and assist graduate students in the lab, although no formal supervisory or teaching roles are required.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in physics, engineering, optics, or a related field by the time of the appointment
• Familiarity with quantum information science and/or photonics, as demonstrated by at least one publication in a peer-review journal on either of these subjects.
Desired Qualifications:
• Record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
• Experience in experimental optics and photonics.
• Familiarity with quantum mechanics and quantum information processing.
• Proficiency in computer-aided simulations and analyses.
