We are looking for a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to join the Catchments and Coasts Research Group and contribute to the delivery of the European REST-COAST project dealing with the Large scale RESToration of COASTal ecosystems through rivers to sea connectivity (https://rest-coast.eu/ ). REST-COAST is a large European research project, running from October 2021 – April 2026 with 37 partners across Europe. The project aims to promote the large-scale restoration of coastal ecosystem to address some the key global challenges of our time.
This post is to support the University of Lincoln team to lead on the development of a global cost-benefit analysis of large-scale coastal restoration, particularly focussing on the contribution that restored coastal ecosystems will provide to reduce climate-change induced coastal flood risks. This work will involve the development, application, and evaluation of numerical hydrodynamic and conceptual models, working with Geographic Information Systems, handling large geographical datasets, statistically analysing (geospatial) data, and intensely collaborating with researchers from different disciplines, including from engineering, economics, ecology, and geography.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD degree in Physical Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, and have a track record of research in coastal (or fluvial) environments. Experience in working across different spatial scales, being fluent in at least one common programming language, and experience working with Geographic Information System will be highly desired for this post. The candidate should further demonstrate willingness and ability to work across disciplines and lead a small team of international researchers.
