Seeking a highly motivated postdoc to join our lab at SUNY Binghamton to investigate the role of neurovascular dysfunction in the hippocampus in age-related cognitive decline, as well as during chronic hypertension and after ischemic stroke. One of our overall goals is to understand the hippocampal vascular contributions to cognitive impairment and dementia. 

The successful applicant will conduct experiments relating to understanding how chronic hypertension affects the vasculature and hemodynamics in the hippocampus to accelerate age-related cognitive decline. Experience in microdissection, small animal surgery and electrophysiology are important. The candidate will develop a focused area of research as a basis for developing an independent career. Additional areas of focus will include grant and manuscript writing, presentation skills, budgeting, and lab management.
