Our mission is to cultivate a culture of innovation while harnessing the latest technologies to drive progress in the field of microbiological research. Our unwavering passion for the intricate world of microorganisms fuels our quest for knowledge and discovery. Through collaborative efforts, we aspire to redefine our understanding of the microbial realm. Our lab environment is dedicated to nurturing the talents and contributions of individuals from diverse backgrounds, believing that this diversity amplifies the creativity and excellence of our scientific endeavors.
About the position
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our dynamic team focused on investigating pathogen adaptation to host microenvironments. The successful candidate will collaborate with bioengineers on cutting-edge research projects involving organoid-based models of infection. The primary responsibilities will involve studying the mechanisms underlying host-pathogen interactions by employing advanced microbiological techniques. Possessing a fundamental understanding of bioinformatics is a plus for this project.
Key Responsibilities
– Conduct independent research on host-pathogen interactions, including experimental design, data collection, and analysis.
– Utilize a range of microbiological techniques, including any “omics” methods (RNA-seq, Tn-seq).
– Perform data analysis using basic bioinformatics tools to extract meaningful insights from large datasets.
– Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and execute experiments, interpret results, and contribute to the development of research strategies.
– Present research findings at internal and external meetings, and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications
– A Ph.D. in Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
– Strong background in microbiological techniques including microscopy.
– Basic knowledge of bioinformatics tools and the ability to analyze genomic and proteomic data.
– Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
– Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present research findings effectively.
– A demonstrated passion for research and a commitment to advancing the understanding of host-pathogen interactions.
– Prior experience in studying host-pathogen interactions, immunology, or related fields is a plus.
Benefits
– Competitive salary.
– Access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and resources at EPFL and UNIL.
– Opportunities for career development and mentorship.
– Collaborative and inclusive work environment.
