The Holthuis Lab at Osnabrück University is looking for a Postdoc to work on Lipid Network Reconstruction & Computational Modeling for Inherited Metabolic Diseases
OVERVIEW
The Holthuis Lab is broadly engaged in fundamental and disease-relevant studies to elucidate cellular functions of sphingolipids, a class of multi-purpose biomolecules involved in life-death signalling, molecular sorting and membrane repair. As partner of EU-funded consortium Recon4IMD , we are looking for a postdoc interested in collaborating with membrane biochemists, computational biologists, bioinformaticians and clinical researchers to reconstruct the highly interconnected and compartmentalized lipid metabolic network as part of an effort to build the most advanced metabolic model for the diagnosis and management of inherited metabolic diseases (IMDs).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD degree in biology, biochemistry or bioinformatics
- Solid background in lipid cell biology, membrane biochemistry and/or biomolecular mass spectrometry
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to initiate productive collaborations across a pan-European network of research institutes, academic hospitals and patient organizations
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
WE OFFER
- A cutting-edge research project at the interface of membrane enzymology, medical biochemistry and systems biology with ample opportunities for developing an extensive academic network
- State-of-the-art instrumental infrastructure in a cooperative working environment
