英国南安普顿大学博士后职位招聘–物理学或其他与光子学领域
We are seeking outstanding creative researchers with experimental and theoretical skills to explore the new physics of interactions between topologically structured light and structured matter emerging at the nano- and picometre scales, with a view towards the development of disruptive light-enabled technologies at the atomic scale.
Successful applicants will join a major Programme sponsored by the UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and will be integrated into a broader interdisciplinary research team recognized for its contributions to the fields of photonic metamaterials, active plasmonics, toroidal electrodynamics, and optical superoscillation – see www.nanophotonics.org.uk .
Candidates are required to have a PhD* or equivalent qualification in Physics or another subject relevant to the field of photonics, and proven experience in photonics research. Skills in computational modelling, machine learning algorithms, precise optical instrumentation and nanofabrication will be advantageous.
Appointments will be made at the level of Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow, depending on experience. Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. For Senior Research Fellow appointments, it is essential that you have several years of prior postdoctoral experience encompassing project management and supervision of other research team members.
Initial appointment will be for up to 28 months from October 2023, or shortly thereafter.
For informal enquiries please write to Prof Nikolay Zheludev (zheludev@soton.ac.uk) and Prof Kevin MacDonald (kfm@orc.soton.ac.uk).
Applications will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon completion of PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
