An exciting opportunity for a researcher exists in the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at Macquarie University. We are seeking a qualified Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a team with an international reputation for producing high quality research outcomes in the area of quantum algorithms and quantum optics.
You will undertake research related to the projects “Pushing the digital limits in quantum simulation for advanced manufacturing” and “Heisenberg- limited lasers: building the revolution”, supervised by Professor D. Berry. We are developing methods to maximise the performance of near- and mid-term quantum simulations using innovative quantum programming techniques related to digitisation and control. In addition, we are developing methods to design highly coherent lasers. We offer a flexible workplace environment.

To be considered for this position, applicants must address the selection criteria below and attach your CV (including a list of two referees), a statement of research interests and achievements:
PhD degree in mathematics, physics or engineering or a relevant discipline. PhD candidates are eligible to apply if their thesis will be submitted before commencing this position.
Experience in quantum theory
Demonstrated ability to publish high quality research
Excellent communication skills
Experience in numerical simulations
Experience working both as an independent researcher and in a team-based environment and contribute positively to an active work environment
Salary Package: Level A step 6-8 (PhD) from $97,621 to $104,622, plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading.
