The Psychology department and the Neuroscience program at Central Michigan University (CMU) is seeking an outstanding candidate for a postdoctoral position in the area of recovery of function following CNS injury or disease. The successful candidates will work with Professor Gary L. Dunbar, contributing to an exciting, large-scale effort to test potential treatments for CNS insult, including spinal cord injury, stroke, glioblastoma, Huntington’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease. Both in vitro and in vivo methods are used, so a broadly trained candidate who has expertise in cell/molecular/genetic as well as behavioral neuroscience techniques is sought.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in a neuroscience-related discipline within the last 6 years.
A background in testing potential therapies for CNS deficits.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with rodent models of CNS trauma and/or neurodegenerative diseases.
Experience with both in vitro and in vivo protocols and grant-writing.
Ability to assist in lab management and supervision of both undergraduate and graduate students is desired.
