About theRole
This appointment is part of the ESRC-funded project on: ‘Digitalising food assistance: Political economy, governance, and food security effects across the Global North-South divide’. The project will be led by the Principle Investigator at the SOAS, in collaboration with Co-Investigators at the Institute for Human Development, New Delhi, India and the University of Khartoum, Sudan. We seek to recruit a post-doctoral researcher to complete the team.
The project aims to examine how digitalising food assistance influences the food security of marginalised populations and how it functions as a source of power. It includes three country case studies: in Sudan, India and the UK. The post-doctoral researcher will be responsible for leading the UK case study (with support from the PI), including literature review, developing research plans, conduct fieldwork, analyse, publish and disseminate findings. The postdoc will liaise with the collaborating partner (the Food Foundation) on research planning, analysis and dissemination. The research will have a range of outputs, from blogs and podcasts to working papers and journal articles, and aims to have academic and policy impact.
The post-doctoral researcher will participate in team meetings and discussions with researchers leading the other case studies, and in comparative analysis of the effects of digital practices. Finally the researcher will take part in the life of the Food Studies Centre.
