瑞典乌默奥大学博士后职位招聘–肿瘤生物学、实验病理学、免疫学、细胞/分子生物学、生物化学或相关领域
We are looking for a post-doc in tumor biology and tumor-immunology. The fellowship will be placed in the group of Basal Tumor Biology at the Department of Molecular Biology, Umeå University. The fellowship is full-time for two years with start immediately or upon agreement.
Project description
Metastatic disease accounts for more than 90% of cancer-related deaths. Lung, liver and bone metastases are the most common lethal diseases. Our research is focused on gaining deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the metastatic dissemination and growth of cancer cells in the host tissues and how interactions between cancer cells and immune cells can facilitate the metastasis and treatment resistance. We also aim at designing precision medicine by using artificial intelligence in oncology in preclinical and clinical practice. The project is also part of the large EU consortium in AI-combinational therapy. We apply and establish xenograft mouse models and genetic modified mouse models to mimic the metastatic disease progression and to assess the novel targeted treatment in vivo for targeted drug development.
The role of proliferation, invasion and survival signaling pathways that are regulated by the lipid kinase in the tumor- host cells interactions during the metastatic dissemination and growth are closely investigated. We also want to test the effects of our developed kinase inhibitors and immuno-modulators on tumor growth and invasion.
The project includes independently planning, conducting, assessing cell line-based and in vivo experiments, and working with a confocal microscope and real-time imaging technologies. You will be collaborating with staff at the Department and clinics at the Umeå University hospital as well as national and international research groups and clinics. You will communicate and present your research within the University and society and also write essays of high scientific quality. The project also includes performing mouse experiments with ethical guidelines and developing new biomedical technologies and models.
Qualifications
You have a PhD degree in tumor biology, experimental pathology, immunology, cell/molecular biology, biochemistry or related fields at the time of recruitment. You have very good writing and spoken English skills and good leadership skills. You have shown the ability to independently manage and document laboratory work. You have a good ability to collaborate with scientists and clinicians at national and international levels.
A person who has been awarded a doctorate or a foreign qualification deemed to be the equivalent of a doctorate qualifies as a postdoctoral fellow. Priority should be given to candidates who have completed their doctoral degrees no more than three years before the closing date of the application. A candidate who has completed a degree prior to this may be considered if special circumstances exist. Special circumstances include absence due to illness, parental leave or clinical practice, appointments of trust in trade unions or similar circumstances.
Other desirable qualifications
The applicant should be highly motivated and able to carry out experiments independently. You should be able to design experiments, analyze data, and have good collaboration and communication skills. Expertise in working with mouse models, such as sorting the stem cells using flow cytometry analyses, is required, as well as generating xenograft mouse models and bone marrow transplantation using mouse models. Other methods in stem cell biology and tumor biology, including cell culture, transfections, molecular imaging, western blotting, ELISA, RT-qPCR and other cell/molecular biology techniques, are required. Experience in handling mice is a merit.
Application
A full application should include:
- A personal letter which describes your research experience and why you apply for the scholarship,

More about us
Umeå University is one of Sweden’s largest higher education institutions with over 37 000 students and about 4 700 employees. The University offers a diversity of high-quality education and world-leading research in several fields. And the groundbreaking discovery of the CRISPR-Cas9 gene-editing tool, which was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, was made here. At Umeå University, everything is close. Our cohesive campuses make it easy to meet, work together and exchange knowledge, which promotes a dynamic and open culture.
The ongoing societal transformation and large green investments in northern Sweden create enormous opportunities and complex challenges. For Umeå University, conducting research about – and in the middle of – a society in transition is what it is all about. But also about delivering education to enable regions to expand quickly and sustainably. This is simply where the future is built.
