The Han Zhu lab is dedicated to discovering the underpinnings of immune-related diseases in the heart. Cancer therapies such as immune checkpoint inhibitors may cause toxicity in the heart, including severe myocarditis, making it difficult for patients with cancer to get the life-saving treatments they need. We have previously discovered that several key types of immune cells may be involved in potentiating this disease, and we are focused on understanding the pathogenesis of immune checkpoint inhibitor induced myocarditis and other cardiac inflammatory diseases using a combination of precision medicine-oriented techniques including single-cell RNA-seq, TCR-seq, and CyTOF as well as classical molecular biology, cell modeling and animal modeling. We also collaborate with a number of other groups within the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute, Department of Microbiology & Immunology, and Division of Oncology/Stanford Cancer Institute to address therapeutic targets which can be brought to the patient bedside.
One Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the Zhu lab. Our team is looking to add a motivated, ambitious, and creative postdoctoral fellow with a strong molecular/cellular biology and/or immunology background and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will lead a project at the intersection of cardiology, oncology, and immunology, using precision medicine-based techniques in the Zhu lab.
Stanford University offers many opportunities to engage in cutting-edge research and is the ideal training ground for postdocs who strive to further develop their skills in pursuit of a career in biomedical innovation.
Candidate Qualifications:
The successful applicant must have a PhD or MD-PhD, with expertise in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, or immunology and may have expertise in cell-based and/or animal models.
Preference will also be given to candidates with a strong background in any of the following: immunology, cancer biology, animal models, iPSC models.
Successful applicants will have a track record of productive research and publications.
