Postdoctoral Research Fellow

The College wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to participate and perform a range of clinical and neurological examination on patients with neurological condition and healthy subjects. This funded post is available from January 2023 on a fixed-term basis for two years. This is a collaborative project between University Hospital Birmingham and University of Exeter. The successful applicant is required to work at University Hospital Birmingham (40%) and University of Exeter (60%). The role will be based within the Department of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Exeter.
This post is specifically to carry out research in neurological and ophthalmological markers and to quantify the neuropathy with carrying out a series of neurological assessment in relevant study subjects. The Research Fellow will be responsible for recruitment of study subjects and performing the examinations and analysing the findings. In addition, the post-holder will be expected to help prepare submit reports, and publications to refereed journals.
About You
The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects, and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant should possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required.
