The above role is available immediately on a fixed term basis, until 31st March 2025, in the Defence Data Research Centre at the University of Exeter. The post is available as a full-time position and the Fellow will be based in Exeter with the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.
The post
The Defence Data Research Centre (DDRC) is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a series of projects focused on advancing best practices in data-driven decision making within the defence sector. The individual will have a high level of computational skills and analytical ability, and will be able to participate as part of an interdisciplinary team to develop new research ideas. They will be able to communicate complex and conceptual ideas to a range of groups, including scientists from outside their own immediate research area and members of the public.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in Computer Science or Mathematics (or a related field of study) and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required. Applicants will be able to will have a high level of computational skills and analytical ability, and will be able to participate as part of an interdisciplinary team to develop new research ideas
