Postdoctoral Position (TVL E13) – Epigenetic regulation and chromatin biology in the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum
The newly established research group of Michael Filarsky at the Interfaculty Institute for Biochemistry (IFIB) at the University of Tübingen is looking for a
Postdoctoral researcher (m/f/d)
to investigate the mechanisms behind the epigenetic control of gene expression switching in the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum. The position is part of an ERC starting grant project, which aims to uncover the molecular factors linking environmental signals, chromatin states and cell cycle progression in the red blood cell stages of the parasite. During the project functional studies on genetically modified parasites will be performed, with a strong focus on chromatin factors and non-coding RNAs.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a candidate with a recent PhD (not more than 3 years ago) in molecular life sciences. You should bring a high level of motivation and self-organization, dedication to experiments, openness to learn new techniques, and a collaborative mindset. An extensive background in cell and molecular biology, with a PhD in molecular parasitology, cell biology, molecular genetics, biochemistry, or an equivalent discipline is a prerequisite. Experience working with Plasmodium, BioID experiments, in RNA biology or chromatin biology is certainly an advantage.
What we offer:
We offer a fully funded position (TVL E13, 3 years) and the possibility to work on an exciting and intellectual challenging project on the forefront of P. falciparum biology. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to use cutting-edge technologies ranging from CRISPR/Cas9 based genome editing and super resolution microscopy, to state-of-the-art methodology to study chromatin and regulatory non-coding RNAs. Our lab is located in the IFIB building of the University of Tübingen, which provides a lively and collaborative research environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities and outstanding resources and support.
How to apply:
If you are interested in joining our lab in Tübingen, please send a single PDF file comprised of a cover letter, a statement about your motivation and research accomplishments (1 page), CV, certificates and contact information for two references to: bewerbungspam prevention@ifib.uni-tuebingen.de
For general information about the position please contact Michael Filarsky: michael.filarskyspam prevention@cssb-hamburg.de
Deadline for applications is the 13.01.2023.
