Do you have a strong technical background in biomedical engineering and interest in electronics/robotics/sensors? Would you like to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to realise a revolutionary step in orthopaedic surgery?
This iSMART project aims to develop a self-contained instrumented module capable of measuring force, motion and temperature which can be incorporated within the polyethylene components of joint arthroplasty. It will offer early detection of poorly performing implants and revolutionise how patients interact with their recovery, provide means to collect, access and analyse meaningful data remotely and intervene as appropriate. This will provide improved post-operative care with greater convenience to the patient and reduced burden on healthcare services.
