The School of Mathematical Sciences is offering a fixed term position in the project ‘Hypergraph lossless symmetry compression and spectral embedding’, starting in November 2022. The successful candidate will undertake research within a project funded by the Alan Turing Institute delivering a theory of lossless compression for hypergraphs based on symmetry, and exploring the notion of approximate symmetries for graphs and hypergraphs.

The prospective candidate will have, or be working towards a degree in Mathematics, or related field, with a background and/or interest in network modelling and/or applied topology, and substantial programming experience in a programming or numerical computing environment such as python or R. An enthusiasm for real-world applications of complex mathematical ideas and a positive attitude towards interdisciplinary research are essential.
