英国爱丁堡大学博士后职位—DNA纳米技术
Postdoctoral Research Associate
University of Edinburgh
Job Description
We are looking for an ambitious and driven PDRA with experimental skills in DNA nanotechnology, DNA topology and protein-DNA interactions. This post is part of an ERC project on “Topologically Active Polymers” (TAP), which our group is realising using DNA and DNA-topology-altering proteins.
We seek candidates who are inspired of using DNA and proteins to make smart materials. The successful candidate will apply DNA nanotechnology and protein/DNA engineering to design new soft materials. They will then quantify their properties using AFM, optical tweezers, confocal/TIRF microscopy and (micro)rheology.
The job holder will be also expected to embrace and contribute towards building a positive culture towards excellent science within the group.
Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Davide Michieletto (davide.michieletto@ed.ac.uk) for informal enquiries.
For more information on our work see the TAPLab website.
The PDRA will be working within the Institute of Condensed Matter and Complex Systems (ICMCS, https: // www. ph.ed.ac.uk/icmcs), one of the best groups in the world for soft matter research (both theoretical and experimental). The group also works in close collaboration with Lynne Regan and Nadanai Laohakunakorn in Synthetic Biology and Ian Chambers in the Centre for Regenerative Medicine.
The Opportunity:
This is a unique opportunity to work on the bourgeoning field of DNA nanotechnology from an angle that has been poorly explored so far, that of using DNA nanotech to create materials with exotic and uncommon material properties.
The successful candidate will join a highly-interdisciplinary and driven group composed of 3 postdocs and 4 PhDs with broad and diverse expertise in both computational and experimental biophysics.
Your skills and attributes for success:
Ambitious and committed to excellent science
Experimental skills in DNA/protein interactions
Knowledge of DNA topology
DNA/protein engineering and purification
