Research Fellow in Digital Engineering of Materials

We are seeking a motivated and capable post-doctoral research fellow to support delivery of Salford University’s innovation strategy funded project.
You will work alongside our academic and wider technical team to deliver the project in the context of integrating data science and machine learning approaches into the composite material microstructure design and property predictions.
We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with knowledge and experience in the areas of Aeronautical, Mechanical, or related discipline.
The successful candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas of material/composite micromechanics; finite element analysis, and machine learning. You will have a thorough knowledge of non-linear material models such as non-linear elastic, elastoplastic, and viscoelastic.
Experience with writing user subroutines in ABAQUS such as UMAT and automating scripts is advantageous.
You will work closely with project partners, present the outcomes of your research in project meetings and prepare deliverable reports and journal publications. The ability to communicate clearly at a technical level and the capability of clearly summarising objectives and achievements for briefing colleagues and project partners is also essential.
