Description: We seek a highly motivated and collaborative postdoctoral researcher to join our group to lead NIH-funded projects on DNA damage response and immune sensing.

We are now accepting applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in the laboratory of Dr. Triparna Sen at the Department of Oncological Sciences, Tisch Cancer Institute, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The postdoctoral researcher will lead NIH-funded projects investigating the crosstalk between DNA damage responses and lung tumor immunology. 

Dr. Sen is an Associate Professor, and her lab (website: https://labs.icahn.mssm.edu/senlab/home/) aims to achieve a systematic and comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms of DNA repair, DNA damage responses, immune regulatory pathways, and immune escape mechanisms in human malignancies with a primary focus on lung cancer. The Sen lab employs in vitro and in vivo models of lung cancer, multiple high-throughput screening technologies, genomics, proteomics, CRISPR engineering, and clinical samples to assess DNA repair, DNA damage responses, and immune sensing pathways, and evaluate their effects on therapeutic response. 

We seek a postdoctoral fellow to join our efforts to apply advanced molecular assays including CRISPR screening, immunological analysis, pharmacological evaluations, single-cell RNAseq, and/or spatial transcriptomics to provide critical insights into the molecular circuitry that drives lung cancers and, consequently, results in the development of novel therapeutic strategies for the clinically relevant molecular subsets of lung cancer. The projects have a heavy translational component with industry collaborations and the assessment of clinical samples. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a stimulating scientific project with the potential for clinical impact. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Plans and directs experiments.
• Identifies original research projects, experiments, and research directions.
• Collects, evaluates, and interprets research data to accomplish research objectives.
• Independently prepares abstracts, research reports, and manuscripts for publication.
• Participates in grant preparation and submissions.
• May supervise graduate students and research technicians.
• Maintains a safe laboratory environment and ensures compliance with governmental and University policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Performs other job-related assignments as assigned.

The ideal candidate should have:

• At the time of application the candidate should have a Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D., in relevant fields (ideally within the last three years) with extensive experience in cell/molecular biology, and immunology.
• Prior experience in molecular biology, cancer biology, tumor immunology, and in animal models is preferred, as is a willingness to learn bioinformatics methods.
• Excellent knowledge and expertise in cancer cell culture, Western blotting, qRT-PCR, immunoprecipitation, high-quality flow cytometry-based assays, CRISPR-mediated gene silencing approaches, molecular cloning, chromatin immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence/confocal microscopy.
• Experience in RNA-seq and next-generation sequencing data analysis are desirable but not required. 
• A proven academic publication track record, including first-authored publications at high profile journals
