We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Fellow in Orthopaedic Hip Surgery to join Professor Sion Glyn-Jones group at the Botnar Research Centre, Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), Oxford. The primary aim of this role is to undertake clinical research in Hip arthroplasty. The job has been designed to offer a specialist trainee the opportunity to undertake 12 months of clinical research, while carrying out some clinical duties. The applicant would also be eligible for an Honorary Clinical Contract with the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford University Hospitals.
As a Clinical Research Fellow in Orthopaedic Hip Surgery you will participate and integrate in ongoing research and contribute to ongoing projects studying Hip arthroplasty. You will be responsible for submitting your work to international peer‑review through attending appropriate scientific meetings and submission to respected journals. You will also be involved in the writing and submission of grant applications related to your particular area of research. You will also assist with theatre lists and supervised surgical training, including outpatient work and operating time and organise weekly planning meetings including reviews of upcoming cases.
You will be qualified at a Specialist Registrar level with full General Medical Council Registration. You will also have a desire to carry out a research project in knee surgery and a proven ability to work on own initiative and problem solve. You will be computer literate and experienced with basic software packages (Excel, Word), with some experience of developing, maintaining, and producing information from databases. Management and good organizational skills with the capacity of working well under pressure is also essential. Proven experience of orthopaedic research and previous experience of orthopaedics / joint arthroplasty is desirable.
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 12 months.
