Postdoctoral Fellow at UT Austin
Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Harpak and Champagne Labs at UT Austin
We are looking to hire postdoctoral colleagues to work with us on method development and data analysis. The postdoctoral fellow will be co-advised by Arbel Harpak and Frances Champagne and be a part of the Whole Communities, Whole Health Challenge at UT Austin aimed to understand how adversity affects health. Our current focus is on questions falling broadly within the scope of complex trait genetics and epigenetics, including gene-by-environment interactions, trait prediction (with polygenic scores) and their portability across groups. Nonetheless, we aim to foster self-driven research and are happy to branch out into new questions in statistical and population genetics beyond our current focus.
Prospective postdocs must have a strong quantitative background, modelling skills and/or extensive experience with genomic data analysis, as well as a sincere interest in tackling biological questions. We welcome applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds.
The Harpak Lab is a research group at the University of Texas at Austin studying evolutionary, statistical and population genomics. The lab is part of both the Department of Integrative Biology and the Dell Medical School, and enjoys collaborative ties with both medical and basic science groups at UT Austin and beyond. More information about the lab can be found at our website: http://www.harpaklab.com.
The Champagne Lab is in the Department of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin and integrates expertise from the Institute of Neuroscience and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences. The research focus of the Champagne Lab is on environmentally-associated epigenetic variation and the relationship to phenotypic outcomes: https://labs.la.utexas.edu/champagne/
Austin is a fantastic place to live. The postdoctoral position offers a competitive salary of $70K a year plus benefits, for a two-year appointment. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis but we are ideally looking for the fellow to join us as soon as possible. Informal inquiries should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Full applications include, most importantly, a brief description of your research experience, interests and goals, and how these interface with ours, as well as your CV and letters from 2 professional references (sent separately to email@example.com).
