Postdoctoral Research Associate position in optical instrumentation
One full-time postdoctoral position is available in leelab.ai at Brown University School of Engineering (Providence, RI, USA). The start date is negotiable between July and October of 2022.
At the intersection of medical photonics, neural engineering, and artificial intelligence, we develop novel technologies for label-free imaging and genetics-free modulation of biological systems, under clear targets of clinical application. The targets range from a laser goggle making blind people see again to a software algorithm of predicting chemotherapy effects in individual patients. This open position is to develop and validate experimental systems to project laser patterns to the retina, while working with other lab members including data analysis experts and animal experimentalists.
Eligibility and qualifications
Have a PhD in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
Have published at least two peer-reviewed articles as the first author in a related topic.
Have excellent skills in designing and instrumenting optical systems involving lasers.
Have experience with optical coherence tomography or fundus microscopy (optional).
Have good communication skills in both verbal and written.
Be highly organized and an excellent team player.
Responsibilities and opportunities
When joining leelab.ai, the candidate will:
Work on the main project by designing, instrumenting, and validating biomedical experimental systems.
Present progress at lab meetings and conferences.
Publish research results and assist in grant writing.
Have opportunities to contribute to other projects as a co-author if interested in.
Have opportunities to train junior lab members if interested in.
