Postdoctoral Associate (Angelaki Laboratory)
New York University
We have two openings for postdoctoral associates at the lab of Dora Angelaki, New York University (https: // angelakilabnyu.org/) as part of a BRAIN Initiative U19 project focused on the neural mechanisms of causal inference. This multi-institution project involves experimental and computational/theoretical laboratories at the University of Rochester (Drs. Greg DeAngelis and Ralf Haefner), Harvard Medical School (Dr. Jan Drugowitsch), New York University (Dr. Dora Angelaki), Baylor College of Medicine / Rice University (Dr. Xaq Pitkow), and the University of Washington (Dr. Greg Horwitz).
Postdoctoral Associates will work on project that is highly collaborative and interactive, involving high-density electrophysiological recordings in both macaque monkeys and mice, optogenetic manipulations, development of novel dynamical theoretical frameworks, application of high-dimensional neural analyses, and establishment of a data analysis and storage platform across laboratories. Successful candidates will collaborate broadly with team members across institutions. The position is initially for 3 years, with the possibility of renewal.
The successful candidate will have:
a strong quantitative background
demonstrable interest in neuroscience or experimental psychology
obtained (or be close to the completion of) a PhD in neuroscience or related field
ability to work in a strongly collaborative and interdisciplinary setting
Preference will be given to candidates with:
expertise in mouse or primate neurophysiology
strong programming skills
previous experience with neural data analysis
Please provide your CV, a brief statement of research interests, and the contact details for reference letters to Dora Angelaki (firstname.lastname@example.org).
