Senior Postdoctoral Researcher: Brainwaves research Coordinator and Schools Implementation Lead
University of Oxford
Description
Applications are invited for a senior postdoctoral researcher to work on the Brainwaves study, an ambitious programme of work, bringing together a number of scientific disciplines with education partners to change how mental health problems in school-aged children are studied and addressed. Reporting to Professor Mina Fazel (Mental Health Theme Lead) and Professor John Gallacher (Brainwaves CEO), this post will be a key research position to take forward the mental health in schools trials research stream. The post is full time; however, consideration would be given to candidates wishing to work part time – minimum 80% FTE /4 days on a pro-rata basis).
The post is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.
This post is for a fixed term (funded for two years).
You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the school mental health trials and implementation project, ensuring recruitment, information governance and ethical requirements are addressed as well as adherence to protocols and timelines. You will take the lead in planning, approval and execution of theme projects, and budget management.
You will have a PhD in clinical or experimental psychology, psychiatry, sociology, education or a relevant discipline, along with relevant postdoctoral experience. You will be able to independently plan and manage a research project including a research budget, and will have the good interpersonal and management skills needed to generate innovative solutions to problems through the application of specialist knowhow. Experience of clinical trials and an interest in adolescent development would be desirable.
Whilst the role is a Grade 8 position, we would be willing to consider candidates with potential but less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 7 (£33,309-40,927) with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly. This would be discussed with applicants at interview/appointment where appropriate.
You will be required to upload a supporting statement/covering letter explaining how you meet the job requirements and details of two referees as part of your online application.
The closing date for this post is 12.00 midday on 8th April 2022.
