Applications are invited for a Senior Postdoctoral Scientist to join the Pandemic Sciences Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicine.
In this position you will undertake an office-based knowledge gathering exercise for the RADAR project (Resources and Data to support a rapid Response to Pandemic Threats) which will underpin the work of multiple groups in the Pandemic Sciences Institute. This work will involve performing a gap analysis of knowledge and resources required for the development of vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics for priority pathogen virus groups. You will synthesise highly technical information from all relevant disciplines into detailed technical reports on relevant research landscape of the priority pathogen virus groups, and be involved in interorganisational liaison and network building for collaborative work on gap identification and remediation.
It is essential that you hold a PhD in a relevant biological sciences subject, and have a strong background in virology and immunology of infectious diseases, demonstrated by a first author publication in a high impact multidisciplinary scientific journal. You will have practical experience with at least one of the following: recombinant protein production and characterisation, serology assays, assay validation, cellular immunity assays, preclinical vaccine assessment, and have the ability to interpret scientific data, analyse and research complex issues, and write factual reports with supporting information. You will be self-motivated and capable of working both independently and as a part of a group. It is essential that you have excellent communication skills, including the ability to present data and represent research objectives at meetings.
