Postdoctoral Research Associate
A NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow position in Respiratory Immunology is available in Dr. Jie Sun’s laboratory in the Carter Immunology Center (CIC) at the University of Virginia (UVA). CIC is a nexus for basic and translational immunology research that bridges multiple Departments at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
The qualified candidate should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Immunology, Virology, Lung Biology or a related field. Candidates are expected to have intensive experiences in small animal procedures, flow cytometry, molecular biology and immune cell purification and culture etc. Candidates with solid background in adaptive immune responses are particularly encouraged to apply. Strong time management and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are required.
Projects for the position will focus on the roles of tissue resident macrophage or lymphocytes in balancing host protection and tissue pathology following respiratory viral infections (Influenza, RSV and SARS-CoV2 infections). The laboratory pursues a multidisciplinary approach that includes immunology, virology and pulmonary biology. Qualifications: Candidate is expected to have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field relevant to the lab research program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at UVA or elsewhere.
