Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Nanomagnetic Devices
The researcher will work in Mesoscopic Systems, a joint Laboratory between the Department of Materials, ETH Zurich, and Paul Scherrer Institute. ETH Zurich is one of the world’s leading universities specializing in science and technology. We are renowned for our excellent education, cutting-edge fundamental research, and direct transfer of new knowledge into society. Over 30,000 people from more than 120 countries find our university to be a place that promotes independent thinking and an environment that inspires excellence. Located in the heart of Europe, yet forging connections all over the world, we work together to develop solutions for the global challenges of today and tomorrow.
The Laboratory for Mesoscopic Systems based at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) is a joint laboratory between the ETH Zurich and the Paul Scherrer Institute, which is the largest research center for the natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland. The current research focus is the investigation of novel magnetic systems at the mesoscopic scale making use of the clean rooms and large-scale facilities at the Paul Scherrer Institute, and fostering the synergies with the Department of Materials (ETH Zurich). We would like to hire a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of nanomagnetic devices.
You will be responsible for developing novel magnetic devices for applications in one of the following fields:
nanoscale robotics or
The characterization will be carried out using lab-based characterization methods (optical and scanning electron microscopy, nanoMOKE, wide-field Kerr microscopy, transport, SQUID-VSM) as well as synchrotron x-ray techniques at the Swiss Light Source and internationally.
You have outstanding qualifications with a Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, materials science, or a related subject, and a background in magnetic thin films, nanostructures, and devices.
