Post-Doc Research Associate – Behavioral Science
University of Sheffield
Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to join the Department of Psychology at the University of Sheffield to work on a project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) that will provide a new resource for behavioural science – namely, Tools for Understanding the Relationship Between Behaviours using Ontologies (or TURBBO). You will report to Professor Thomas Webb in the Department of Psychology, but will also work as part of a broader team of investigators on the final two tasks within the TURBBO project – namely, to develop ways to allow users (such as, academics, policy makers, stakeholders) to (i) query the knowledge base to provide robust answers to questions about how behaviours are related and (ii) visualise the data. You will also contribute to dissemination activities, including presenting findings at conferences, writing reports, liaising with academic and non-academic beneficiaries, and assisting with workshops and public-facing events.
You should have a PhD in Psychology or a related discipline (or have equivalent experience) and extensive research experience including experience running workshops and focus groups and – ideally – an understanding of ontologies. You will also need to demonstrate a track record of scientific writing, commensurate with your career stage, experience working in multidisciplinary teams, and effective communication, IT, and statistical skills.
