Research Fellow in Structural Biology
Are you an ambitious structural biologist looking for your next challenge? Do you want to expand your expertise in DNA damage response field and further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?
The laboratory of Dr Qian Wu is interested in understanding the basic mechanism of human DNA damage response (DDR) network in a molecular detail. We are also developing chemical and protein tools that enable us to control and regulate the DNA repair pathways in cancer cells.
This post will focus on investigating how key DDR protein complexes are structurally assembled at stalled DNA replication forks caused by interstand crosslinks. We will provide strong support for research and personal career development. We are part of an active structural biology and cancer research community through Astbury Centre and newly established Leeds Cancer Research Centre. This post will have local access to excellent research facilities especially for structural biology and research computing. Our state-of-the-art Electron Microscopy facility in Astbury Biostructure Laboratory hosts two Titan Krios microscopes (with F4/selectris and F4/K2 detectors) and three other Transmission electron microscopies.
You should have a PhD (or close to completion) in structural biology using cryo-EM as the main method, with experience in EM data processing, structural modelling, and data interpretation.
The University of Leeds and the Faculty of Biological Sciences are committed to providing equal opportunities for all and offer a range of family friendly policies. The University is a charter member of Athena SWAN (the national body that promotes gender equality in higher education), and the Faculty of Biological Sciences was awarded a Silver award in 2020.
