Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Trustworthy Autonomous Systems

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Cognitive Robotics Group (CRG) at the Oxford Robotics Institute and the Department of Engineering Science in central Oxford.This position is on the EPSRC funded project “Responsible AI for Long-term Trustworthy Autonomous Systems” (RAILS) and is fixed term for 24 months.
RAILS will draw on interdisciplinary research expertise from engineering, law, social science, and computer science to interrogate regulations, standards, methodologies, impacts, and public acceptance around the long-term operation of autonomous systems from technical, ethical, legal, and social perspectives.
You will lead the work on the generation and evaluation of corner cases in autonomous driving using Reinforcement Learning and/or other learning techniques in (cloud-based) simulations (e.g. CARLA). There will be a strong focus on the casual analysis and explanation of corner cases in dynamic environments.
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD (or near completion), together with some relevant experience in reinforcement learning, autonomous vehicles, simulators, and/or cloud technologies.
