A postdoctoral position in cancer biology research is open in Dr. Shibani Pati’s lab in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Department of Surgery at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Eligible candidates should have a strong background in molecular biology and working with in vitro and in vivo mouse models of cancer.
Dr. Shibani Pati MD PhD is Professor and Scientific Director of Cellular Therapies at UCSF Lab Medicine. Dr. Pati is a physician scientist whose lab is highly translational in nature and focuses on vascular biology in traumatic injury and cancer. Areas of cancer research include colon cancer, Glioblatoma Multiforme and osteosarcoma. The goal of this fellowship will be to conduct studies to understand how stem cell therapeutics and stem cell derived exosomes can be optimized, modified and utilized to address vascular compromise and aberrant cell growth in pre-clinical cancer models. Fundamental mechanistic studies will be utilized to identify novel therapeutic targets. The Pati lab as close links to industry which will help support translation to patients. The goal of these investigations will be to translate findings from bench to bedside-clinical trials. The fellowship will include the opportunity to publish a number of papers rapidly and also work on high impact papers.
Career development for the post-doctoral fellow is a key component of this fellowship with opportunities to present their work, attend meetings, teach and lead areas of research in the lab.
Qualifications for this job include”
Highly motivated individuals with PhD or MD PhD in molecular and cell biology, with a demonstrated competence and experience and publications in internationally recognized journals.
Technical expertise in standard basic molecular and cellular techniques, including cell culture, transfections and molecular cloning is a necessity.
Experience with mouse studies and comfort working with mice is important..
Candidates must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, dedicated to science and problem solving, with organizational skills and effective at working independently and leading projects, while also collaborating and assisting the team in its collective research goals.
