About the Role
A position is available for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the laboratory of Silvia Marino on a 5 year Cancer Research UK funded programme award, in collaboration with Sven Nelander, Uppsala University and Trevor Graham, Barts Cancer Institute. The successful applicant will lead a multi-organisation collaborative project focused on leveraging exciting newly developed experimental tools, including patient-derived tumour stem cells and matched iPSC-derived neural stem cells, as well as comparative epigenomic datasets derived thereof to develop new approaches for personalised prediction of drug responses in glioblastoma, a currently untreatable malignant tumour of the brain. The successful applicant will lead our bioinformatics and computational modelling analysis with guidance in large data analytics (Nelander) and clonal evolution in drug response (Graham).
About You
We seek an ambitious and self-motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in computational biology, statistics, computer science, or a related field. The cross-centre nature of the post may require that the post holder is able to relocate between London, UK and Uppsala, Sweden during the project lifetime. You should have a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. computational science, bioinformatics, functional genomics, statistics, maths or other), awarded or to be awarded in 2022.

The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 400 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a full time, fixed term appointment for 3 years, with an expected start date as soon as possible in 2022. The starting salary will be Grade 4-5, in the range of £33,824 – £45,479 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
