H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute
At Moffitt Cancer Center, we come face-to-face with cancer every day, but we also see courage. And it inspires us to be the safest and best place for cancer care – to bring greater hope to every patient we serve. It’s why we’ve been continually named One of the Top Places to Work in the Tampa Bay Area. As the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Florida, Moffitt employs some of the best and brightest minds from around the world. Moffitt is the leading cancer hospital in both Florida and the Southeast and has been nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report since 1999. Because working at Moffitt is both a career and a mission: to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer. Join a dedicated, diverse and inclusive team of over 7,000 to be a part of the Courageous future we envision.
Postdoctoral Scholar – Tumor Immunology
The Haura lab has an opening for a postdoctoral scholar in tumor immunology and adoptive cell therapy research. Moffitt’s trajectory is to become a worldwide leader in cell therapy for cancer. Our lab uses an interdisciplinary approach spanning immune biology and proteogenomics to functionally characterize responses to immune therapy. We are looking for a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral research fellow who is interested in working on a project related to tumor neoantigens that predict response to tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) trial therapy in lung cancer patients, recently published in Nature Medicine (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-021-01462-y)
The candidate will have immediate access to rich array of patient samples including resected tumors and tumor cell suspensions, and apheresis products and will join a productive, energetic team of immunologists, bioinformaticians, clinicians, surgeons, and protein researchers within our group.
The Ideal Candidate:
Successful candidates will have a publication track record demonstrating a strong background in tumor immunology and/or immune-therapy; with an interest in translational research. Prior experience is required with some of the following techniques: high-throughput screening, lymphocyte cell culture (T cells and dendritic cells), ELISA/ELISpot assay, nucleic acids/protein extraction, flow cytometry (FACS). Expertise in molecular biology (cloning, plasmid purification) and adoptive cell therapy is highly preferred. Candidates with experience in validating neoantigens in model systems will be given priority.
This individual will design, conduct and interpret correlative experiments using human samples from accruing immunotherapy clinical trials, in particular a trial using adoptive cell transfer of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL). This individual will identify and validate predicted neoantigens from lung cancer immunotherapy trials using established and novel functional assays.
Credentials and Qualifications:
M.D. or PhD in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or relevant field.
Interested applicants should send their current CV with recent publications and contact information for three references to Dr. Eric Haura at Eric.Haura@moffitt.org,
