The Xie lab in the Department of Infection Biology and Cancer Biology at the Lerner Research Institute, Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland, Ohio) is recruiting enthusiastic postdoctoral researchers to join us to study genome structure, dynamics and regulation in cancer and infection disease.
We integrate cutting-edge super-resolution imaging, live cell single molecule imaging with modern genomics and genome engineering approaches to study the 4D architecture and dynamics of the mammalian genome and the fundamental genome regulatory mechanisms in cancer evolution and infection diseases (Xie et al., Nature Methods, 2020; Xie et al., Genes & Development, 2017; King*, Yost*, Xie* et al., Nature, 2021). We seek to understand how the epigenetic network (e.g., writers, reader, effectors), particularly the BET family proteins, regulate the fundamental genome structure and function (Xie et al, Nature Genetics, 2021, in press) in human development and diseases with the hope of discovering novel druggable targets to improve cancer therapeutics and to fight against infection.
We are also interested in tool development to label, image and manipulate the human genome to improve disease diagnosis and in dissecting the interplay between genome regulation and other fundamental cellular processes (e.g., immune response). The lab is situated in a highly collaborative basic research environment at Cleveland Clinic with unrestricted access to state-of-the-art core facilities and unbound translational research possibilities.
More details of the laboratory can be found at https://frankxielab.com/.
The postdoctoral fellow positions are supported by the generous startup package and institutional funding from Cleveland Clinic. The compensation is based on NIH standard and commensurate with past research experiences.
- The candidates should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree with demonstrated track-records of research publications and good English communication capabilities.
- Preference will be given to self-driven and detail-orientated candidates.
- Prior experiences in molecular biology, cell biology, animal models and computation (e.g., Matlab, Python, R) are advantageous.
We will provide training to modern imaging (e.g., super-resolution, live cell single molecule tracking), genomics (e.g., Micro-C, HiChIP), genome editing and computation. Successful candidates will perform mentored research and guided collaborations, participate in lab operations and microscope maintenance, with the encouragement for developing unconventional ideas, risky projects and interdisciplinary approaches.
We aim to build a diverse, equal and inclusive team and encourage interested candidates from underrepresented groups to apply. We seek to provide solid scientific training and help develop critical research thinking, communication and presentation skills for the next level of career advancement. We will review applications in a rolling basis until the positions are filled.
Interested individuals should directly email Dr. Liangqi (Frank) Xie at XIEL2@ccf.org and email@example.com with the Title line as
