About the Role
A position is available for a postdoctoral research assistant to join the laboratory of Silvia Marino at the Blizard Institute, Barts and The London School of Medicine, Queen Mary University of London. The successful applicant will join a leading multidisciplinary research group composed of basic scientists and clinical researchers focusing on understanding key mechanisms driving epigenetic dysregulation in brain tumours and how these can be harnessed to develop novel therapeutic strategies (Vinel et al Nature Communications 2021, Dumas et al EMBO J 2020, Ricci et al Oncogene 2020).
About You
We seek an ambitious and self-motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, genetics or a related field, to lead a multi-organisation collaborative project focused on leveraging exciting newly developed experimental tools, including patient-derived tumour stem cells and matched iPSC-derived neural stem cells, as well as comparative epigenomic datasets derived thereof to develop new approaches for personalised prediction of drug responses in glioblastoma, a currently untreatable malignant tumour of the brain.
About the Institute
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 400 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a full time, fixed term appointment for 3 years in the first instance, with an expected start date of January 2022 or as soon as possible after this date. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £32,087 – £34,733 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
