Postdoc in Micromotor-Based Drug Delivery

We wish to employ a postdoc within the framework of our highly interdisciplinary Center of Excellence – IDUN. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the oral drug delivery activities in the Center, interacting with several team members working in different disciplines, such as optics, biochemistry, biology, microfluidics, pharmacology and polymer science.
The position is on the design, preparation, characterization and testing of micromotors for oral drug delivery of e.g. peptides and proteins like insulin. Micromotors are typically asymmetrical particles that can self-propel due to e.g. a chemical gradient. Previously, we have worked with the concept of microfabricated devices, such as microcontainers, for drug delivery. With this new position, we wish to explore the combination of larger devices and micromotors.
Responsibilities and qualifications You will be responsible for our micromotor activities including, micromotor realization, drug loading and in vitro/in vivo characterization. You will be designing micromotors and larger delivery devices in close collaboration with our microfabrication specialist. The work involves designing new micromotor concepts as well as developing technologies for loading, coating and handling of the micromotors. You will be responsible for teaching activities at our summer schools as well as supervision of students.
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). We seek a person who is in line with our IDUN values (www. idun.dtu.dk) and who is highly self-motivated and with a great flair for guiding students. Preferably you have a PhD degree in chemistry, nanotechnology, or material science. You are a creative scientist with a track record of quality publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Ideally, you have previously worked in a multidisciplinary project and you have experience and practical knowledge within self-propelled nano and micromotors. You enjoy the interaction with team members, collaborators and students and you are a good communicator.

Salary and terms of employment The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 2 years with an expected start in the beginning of 2022.
