B Cell Biology, Antibody Development, Host-Microbe Interactions, Vaccine Biology, and Germinal Center Dynamics
Wesemann Lab, Boston, MA, USA
The Wesemann Lab at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Ragon Institute, MIT Center for Microbiome Informatics and Therapeutics, and Food Allergy Science Initiative aims to advance our understanding of B cell and antibody responses at the molecular, cellular, and tissue level through multidisciplinary approaches in humans and animal models. Our work is relevant both to uncovering fundamental aspects of immune function and human health issues related to responses to infection, vaccination, autoimmunity, and allergic disease. Another major focus is to develop innovative technologies that can be rapidly translated to address major global health issues.
The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for one or more of the following topics: (1) leading a project on elucidating the role of microbial symbionts on B cell development and selection, (2) engineering a lymphocyte system for in vivo biotechnological innovations in human health, and (3) analyzing biological samples from human lymph node, bone marrow, and peripheral blood to better understand lymphocyte responses to vaccination and determinants/mechanisms of antibody evolution, memory B cell dynamics, and long lived plasma cell development. (4) The candidate should have strong organizational and communication skills for assisting and collaborating with multidisciplinary groups of immunologists, virologists, clinicians, technology innovators, and engineers, in a dynamic and vibrant team environment.
Qualifications: PhD. in Immunology, Biology, Cell Biology, Virology, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, or related degree. Ideally should have ample experience in one or more of the following topics: molecular biology, flow cytometry, biochemistry, cell culture, microscopy, animal models, or related experience. The Wesemann Lab is a dynamic and fast paced environment that thrives on collaboration and ingenuity. We have a diverse, international talent pool, working on multiple projects relevant to adaptive immunity.
