Blood Research Institute (BRI), BCW
Postdoc position in Signal Transduction, Cell and Cardiovascular Biology
We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a Postdoctoral Fellow position at the Blood Research Institute (BRI), part of Versiti (https://www.versiti.org/research/directory/investigators/magdalena-chrzanowska-wodnicka,-phd,-faha).
The laboratory of Dr. Magdalena Chrzanowska at the Blood Research Institute studies molecular mechanisms of vascular homeostasis in health and disease. We use cell biology, biochemistry, transgenic mouse models as well as ‘omics’ and translational approaches to understand the functions of small GTPases in the cardiovascular system, with a particular emphasis on endothelial cell biology, normal and pathological angiogenesis and tumor microenvironment, and cardiac and vascular functions. Current studies focus on the mechanisms underlying the functional interaction between cardiac endothelium, myocytes and smooth muscle cells in heart failure.
Qualified applicants must be skilled in molecular & cellular biology methods, biochemistry and cell culture. Experience in microscopy and mouse physiology is an advantage. Candidates with a recent Ph.D. and an excellent publication record are welcome to apply. Applicants must be able to work independently, directly under Dr. Chrzanowska-Wodnicka supervision, and in a team, and have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
This is an opportunity to gain integrated experience in cellular, molecular and developmental biology and signal transduction in the physiologically relevant context of the cardiovascular system. The position offers a competitive salary and excellent training conditions in an NIH-funded laboratory, with access to state-of-the-art technologies and a collaborative environment and proximity to the basic science departments and the Cardiovascular Center of Medical College of Wisconsin on the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center campus.
Interested applicants should submit curriculum vitae, a 1-page statement of research philosophy and future goals, and contact information for three letters of reference, including most recent supervisor.
